The following describes the basic process for enabling Access Control on your SPC Panel using the VFx0M-MF range of Mullion readers and Mifare cards.<\/p>\n

The Default Setup is for 2 single doors Entry only.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

WIEGAND Wiring<\/h3>\n
\n\t

Below describes the Default access setup on SPC using the Mullion reader.<\/p>\n

The Mullion readers must be wired as Wiegand to work on SPC.<\/p>\n

There are two types of Mullion Reader<\/p>\n

VR20M-MF_V54504-F111-A100 \u00a0-\u00a0Non-Keypad Version Proximity Only.<\/p>\n

VR50M-MF_V54504-F112-A100\u00a0 -\u00a0 Keypad Version Pin & Proximity<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

NOTE<\/h3>\n

The Y\/T terminal in the Mullion reader is the tamper terminal by default.<\/p>\n

It can be connected to an input on SPC, so that the system can detect if the reader has tampered.<\/p>\n

The SPC Input EOL must be set as NONE. (Default \u2013 200\u2126 Closed, \u221e Open)<\/p>\n

If the Input used is not on the Door Expander where the reader is wired, then you may get errors in the Zone log such as NOISY, DC SUB or a Changing Resistor Value.<\/p>\n

If so, then the 0V will need to be referenced with the Inputs Common.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

Reader Link Settings<\/h3>\n
\n\t

Below in BOLD<\/strong> are the Mullion Reader Link settings for a default SPC setup.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. This is used to define what mode the reader is working in.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Link OFF = Wiegand<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Link ON = OSDP<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. This is used to define what Wiegand protocol is being used.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Top Two = 32bit Wiegand<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Bottom Two = 56bit Wiegand<\/p>\n

      No Link = 26bit Wiegand (firmware 1.0.5)<\/p>\n

      No Link = 37bit Wiegand (firmware 2.0.5)<\/p>\n

      Note: Please refer to installation manual to configure 26bit Wiegand output on firmware 2.0.5<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. This defines whether the EOL is on or off.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Link OFF = No EOL<\/strong><\/p>\n

        Link ON = EOL (Option used with OSDP readers)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

        The system automatically allocates two Zones for each door:<\/p>\n

        The Door Position EOL value, by default, is set as Dual 4k7\/4k7.<\/p>\n

        The Door Release (Exit Request) EOL is set as NONE (no resistor).<\/p>\n

        The Door Release zone is by default set as UNUSED so it can be used as exit request.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

        \n\t

        The DPS<\/strong> (Door Position Switch) inputs, on the Door Expander (SPCA210), are used for monitoring if the door has been opened, Closed, Left Open, etc and gives an indicator for the system to start the entry timer.<\/p>\n

        (DPS1<\/strong> is for Door 1 and DPS2<\/strong> is for Door 2).<\/p>\n

        The system expects a 4k7 resistance across the DPS & 0v inputs when the door is closed.<\/p>\n

        (Default - 4k7 Closed, 9k4 Open)<\/p>\n

        You can change the resistor value on any zone to match the value used in the door contact<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

        The DRS<\/strong> (Door Release Switch) inputs, on the SPCA210 Expander, are used for the Exit Request Switch. (RTE, REX, Egress, etc.)<\/p>\n

        (DRS1<\/strong> is for Door 1 and DRS2<\/strong> is for Door 2).<\/p>\n

        The Door Release EOL is set as NONE by default, so the system expects to see a short across the DRS & 0V inputs but can be inverted<\/p>\n

        (Default - Short when Closed, INF when Open).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

        Default Setup (2 single doors)<\/h3>\n
        \n\t

        SPC Configuration<\/p>\n

        The following setup assumes that there is a Door Expander working on the system, with two readers wired into the Reader 1 & 2<\/strong> connections and that the Door Position Inputs (DPS) have Contacts wired in and working.<\/p>\n

        The systems default door setup is for both Reader 1 & 2 - Entry with Card Only.<\/p>\n

        Each door is automatically allocated two Zones.<\/p>\n

        In the example below, Door 1<\/strong> has Zones 9 & 10 and Door 2<\/strong> has Zones 11 & 12.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

        For Access Control to work on SPC there are several specific features that must be set up.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

        User Profile<\/h3>\n
        \n\t
          \n
        1. The USER PROFILE used must have Door Control<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

           <\/p>\n

            \n
          1. Select which AREAS the user has access to.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

             <\/p>\n

              \n
            1. Select which DOORS the user can control either 24Hrs or via a Calendar.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

               <\/p>\n

                \n
              1. The site code must be the same as the cards used.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                When a card is learned onto the system, if the site code is different to the profile, then Invalid Code <\/strong>is displayed on the keypad followed by the new code for (2 secs).<\/p>\n

                This Site Code must be changed to the new code, in the User profiles, for the cards to work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

                User setup<\/h3>\n

                1. Create \/ Edit a USER and select the USER PROFILE.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                   <\/p>\n

                  1. Add a CARD to the User.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                    Either Learn a Card onto the system via the Reader.<\/p>\n

                    (Full Engineer > Users > Edit > Access Control > Learn Card > Select Door)<\/p>\n

                    Badge the Card on the reader to Add the card to the User.<\/p>\n

                     <\/p>\n

                    or enter the number manually.<\/p>\n

                    This is only possible for EM Cards.<\/p>\n

                    To manually add a card, the original card number must be converted into an SPC number using the Card Converter tool available from Tech Support.<\/p>\n

                    (SPC can only recognize a 10-digit code but may also work for different card types).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

                    or enter the number manually, in the USER, in SPC Pro or via the Browser.<\/p>\n

                    The Door Expander (SPCA210) configuration should be left as default, as Readers 1 & 2 are both used for Entry only.<\/p>\n

                    NOTE<\/strong><\/p>\n

                    For the Entry Timer to work the Zone Type must be set as ENTRY\/EXIT.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

                    System Operation<\/h3>\n

                      \n
                    1. When the system is Fullset<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                      Presenting a valid card (or Pin if Enabled) to the reader will release the door lock associated with that reader.<\/p>\n

                      If you open the Door, the Door Position switch detects the door has physically opened so starts the Entry timer for the Area.<\/p>\n

                      Enter the user code onto the Keypad and select Unset > Area<\/p>\n

                      If the system is not Unset before the time limit is reached, then an alarm is activated.<\/p>\n

                      (If you do NOT open the door the door lock closes after the timeout period).<\/p>\n

                       <\/p>\n

                      1. When the system is Unset<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                        Enter your code on the keypad, select Fullset > Area and the exit timer will start.<\/p>\n

                        Press the exit request button and exit the area, the Area Fullsets after the Exit timer has ended.<\/p>\n

                        If you need to terminate the Exit timer using the exit door, you can set the associated Zone with the Final Exit<\/strong> attribute. This allows you to set a second timer (1- 45 second) so the system Fullsets when the outer door is Opened Then Closed and the timer ends.<\/p>\n
